Classic

One of the five or six pieces every choir ought to learn, either secular or church. Not difficult, but the score is busy so it will take plenty of rehearsal time -- well worth the effort!

one of the classics

Having sung this arrangement decades ago in high school may cloud my judgment but not by much - this stands as one of the most successful arrangements of a spiritual around. And it's been around - copyright 1937?! The dynamics, the interplay of parts, use of accidentals and passing notes not in the chordal progressions are all worth noting - and how seamless and natural it all seems! I've heard many groups sing this arrangement, even fiddling around with some of the score, but - as if tinkering with JS Bach - all were successful.
