A Student's Hocket Large Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music
Instrumentation - Sinfonietta
Originally written in 2019 at Cardiff University, A Student’s Hocket is inspired by and named after Jo Kondo’s An Elder’s Hocket, and you’ll notice that the opening is very much based on Kondo’s piece. However, the composer wanted to use this piece as an opportunity to show the development of hockets, and branched away from the consistent nature of Kondo’s piece quite quickly by adding many more instruments and varying the hocketing techniques. Soon the piece moves into a faster tempo, and resembles something more like Louis Andriessen’sde Snelheid. This piece is an interesting interpretation of what can happen when you take a formset out by one composer, and continually develops it until it has evolved into something new,but of course, still manages to maintain and return to its roots.Instrumentation - Sinfonietta− 1 Flute− 1 Oboe− 1 Clarinet in Bb− 1 Bassoon− 1 Horn in F− 1 Trumpet in Bb− 1 Trombone in C− 1 Tuba− 1 Marimba− 1 Vibraphone− 1 Piano− 1 Violin− 1 Viola− 1 Cello− 1 Double Bass
