These nine all-time favorite themes have been arranged in traditional five-finger style, with the melody split between the hands, and without key signatures in the student part. Starting hand positions are illustrated above each piece. Fingerings that are outside the noted five-finger positions and those indicating a shift in hand position are circled for easy identification. Dotted quarter notes, triplets and sixteenth notes have been avoided. All of the melodic arrangements have optional duet accompaniments created to achieve a fuller, richer musical experience. A perfect find for my students!
As a piano teacher, I was in dire need of motivating pieces for my boy students. This book was the perfect find! I plan to use it with every boy student who has advanced past Level 1A. In some of the pieces, the hand has to move out of position or play an unexpected sharp or flat. This throws some kids off, but if I take time to go over it with them in the lesson, they usually do fine getting it. All the pieces in this book are movie themes. If a student is not familiar with the movie, I assign them to listen to the theme on youtube so they can hear the full orchestral version and get an idea for the mood and flow of the piece.
