I understand that this book is clearly intended for beginners (it's right in the title), but in my opinion that's no excuse for it to completely center on a method that is widely scorned by serious organists for being slow. It is impossible to play quickly using the method taught in this book. At best it's a crutch to work toward the 'correct' method, and hence will have to be abandoned the first time an organist wants to play a piece with fast pedaling. Most modern professional organ teachers encourage their students to jump right into the 'know where it is' method, skipping over the 'feel for it' method. That's just wasted time, and for the book to focus almost exclusively on this poor method is to do nothing more than waste the student's time. Pedal Mastery for Organ by Joyce Jones, while not perfect (much physicality is missing), is much better.
