best of cage
best J Cage had ever written. Like Andy Warhol could draw, this guy couldn't compose his way put of paper bag, so that was his road to fame, hack jobs like this for shocking value for the easily amused. All the philosophical junk about silence is trite and second hand too

Not for the hard of hearing
Professional pianist here. I love this piece. In fact, use it as a daily warm-up. I practice this piece every morning until my deaf neighbors start to complain.

John Cage - 4' 33
Initially, I was excited to learn this new piece, as I've been studying the horn in college, so I thought I'd show off my transposition skills. When I got it in the mail, I was shocked! How was I supposed to transpose this to my horn in time for my recital? Luckily, I had a great tuner app so I was able to figure out the tricky transpositions and come out with a great performance. It was hard at first, but after all my practice with a metronome I was even able to finish it in 4' 32!!! Thank you, John Cage, for such a piece that can reach every instrument family.

You're all missing the point!!!
John Cage has presented not a song- but a theory. This song brings up a good question. What is music? This is a score for complete silence. And silence it is. But it is still written down in a score format with ledger lines, keys, and rest markings, so it technically qualifies as music. For those trashing this piece, The thought behind it went way over your heads, which is understandable. But please don't hate this piece because it is just silence. Silence was the idea. I'm rating this as Advanced for that reason. It's difficult to comprehend

This is a SCAM.
This is NOT music. This is a scam to get people to pay for nothing. This man does not deserve any respect for cheating people out of their money. He presents nothing for over 4 minutes and expects you to consider it music?!! I understand he's trying to get you to appreciate the sounds of the world around you but to charge people for that and say he composed it is just a flat out farce.

Poor quality and blank pages. Avoid at all costs.
I purchased this as a birthday present for my son who is learning to play the piano. I was extremely dismayed to find that my copy had a quite serious printing error: There were no notes printed on any page! Where is the quality control process? To date I have not had a reply from my many requests for a replacement copy. I shall not be using this website or publisher's goods again. Very disappointing. Avoid at all costs.

Simply Amazing
I love this piece. Every time I hear it I am moved by the music. I wish I had more opportunity to play it though. Whenever I practice it in my apartment, my neighbour gets upset.
