I always try to purchase original arrangements whenever possible, so I first purchased one copyrighted by Sony and published by Hal Leonard (not this one). The issue with that was that it plays every note of the solo voice part. But I didn’t want that. I just wanted chord accompaniment, not the piano matching every note. Which brings me to this arrangement by a mystery person named poon who appears to be European since the metronome marking is in quavers… I wanted this arrangement to solve my problem of too many notes. And it almost did. There are no annoying babysitting the melody line with the accompaniment. However, some of the chords inversions are a bit off. They are close, probably in the attempt to make the piece easier to play. It does do that. It does the job. Just doesn’t feel as true. I will use this arrangement, but I’ll be tweaking it to make the chords to be closer to the original. So I’ve bought two arrangements and neither is what I really wanted. Maybe I’m too choosy. I recommend this one if you want an arrangement that’s easy for the pianist and doesn’t play the melody line, but don’t expect chord inversions to be the same. I wish there was an arrangement with original chord inversions that doesn’t play the melody line so the vocalist can be freer, but we can’t have everything and this comes very close.
