I had a student, just turning 8, that reached a brick wall when she started notes on the staff in the Alfred Premier Series. I could see her struggling and music was no longer fun. I put her in the Notes Made Fun and Piano Made Fun Note Reading Book 1 and within a week, the smile was back on her face. She knows her notes and is having fun again! Success!

I tried this series out with a beginning piano student that was six turning seven last year. She learned to read Bass C through to Treble C within the first year. This is the fastest I have ever seen a young student learn to effectively read music. The method uses songs about animal characters to describe the position on the staff along with a sing-along CD.Ex. Cat note c, he floats near the treble staff with a line right through him. I used it along with Theory made fun, Counting made fun and the Perfect Start book 1. While the student is exceptional I would venture to say that the method enables young students to relate to the material in a shorter time than other beginning methods.
