Sonata In A Minor, Op. 11 (1918) for Piano by Howard Hanson Piano Solo - Sheet Music

By Howard Hanson

For almost eighty years, only incomplete manuscripts of this work were known to exist, but in 2007, the Eastman School of Music acquired a manuscript that had been in private hands since Howard Hanson’s widow’s death in 1996. Carl Fischer Music has now made this important work available to the world. Most notably, the final movement is well-known as one of the first symphonic band compositions by an American composer: “Triumphal Ode.” A welcome addition to the library of music by a seminal American composer. For the intermediate to advanced player.

Howard Hanson sonata in A mnor for piano

I always loved the music of Howard Hanson especially compositions like his symphony no2 Romantic and Marymount. This sonata shares many of the characteristics for what he has become famous such as beautiful melodies , great drama and virtuosity.
