This book has some wonderful music in it by great composers but it assumes a knowledge of other recorders and for a rank beginner, is too difficult. And since the music is in the bass clef, unlike most other recorder music, it is a struggle to start playing on the intermediate/advanced level the pieces require. I am an intermediate player and am having a hard time. I would have liked to start with simpler pieces.
