About Michael Story

Michael Story is a prolific American composer and arranger renowned for his extensive contributions to educational band music. His primary musical style encompasses a broad range of concert, marching, and jazz band compositions, often tailored for developing musicians. Story's significance lies in his vast catalog of over 1,200 published works, which have made him a cornerstone in music education, shaping the repertoire and development of countless student ensembles across various skill levels.

Michael Story earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Music Education from the University of Houston, where he also served as an assistant director for the Cougar Marching Band.
His first piece was published when he was just 20 years old, marking the beginning of a highly productive career.
Story has been an exclusive writer for major music publishers including Columbia Pictures Publications, CPP/Belwin, Warner Bros. Publications, and is currently a full-time writer with Alfred Music Publishing.
He is also a chief music arranger for the "Expressions Music Curriculum" and its band component, "Band Expressions," a comprehensive K-12 music program.

Michael Story's sheet music is exceptionally well-suited for student musicians from elementary to high school, as well as college bands, encompassing concert bands, marching bands, and jazz ensembles.
