Choral Community Favorites for High School

2016 Spring Choral Contest

This spring we held a school choral program contest, in which choir directors at the elementary, middle, high school and college levels were encouraged to submit the repertoire list for their school's spring choral concerts. The choral programs were judged based on originality, thematic content and age appropriateness. The winners received a $200 gift certificate to Sheet Music Plus. They shared the inspiration behind their creative programming with us.

Congrats Sarah from Rosati-Kain High School in St. Louis, Missouri!
Her concert program theme was entitled "Music of Life"

About Sarah's program:
"I was really excited to choose our theme, "Music of Life" because it is so wide open and universal. People use music for worship ("Wana Baraka"), to describe something beautiful ("Zion's Walls"), to cause laughter ("Duetto Buffo di Due Gatti"), or help bring on the tears ("Danny Boy"). Music helps us feel our humanity in all its complexity and glory and I tried to show glimpses of that in this program. Our concert programs are varied to challenge my students, both in vocal styles and in emotion and showmanship. I also love listening to all the previews of songs available on sheetmusicplus.com and picking pieces that I fall in love with because I know my students will shine."
