  • February 06, 2013 Nice variety of popular melodies

Strong technical foundation for beginner flamenco player. Although it is not concert material, if you learn this book and you can entertain anybody anywhere. Highlights are Bulerias; Canela; and Malaga City of Dreams (a tremelo study...That'll whip you into shape)

Compared to books by Juan Martin and Juan Serrano, this book is woeful.

This is one of my favorites. Easy to play easy to remember. For someone just getting into flamenco guitar, these selections have wonderful flavor.

not everyone can play like paco, but that doesnt mean flamenco cant be played by anyone! This book shows how a guy with limited technique and slow im picado can create the full gypsy atmosphere of flamenco. Mel Agens compositions are thoroughly authentic, and deceptively simple. Playing them will allow...

you to play with feeling without trying too hard. There are a lot of pieces here (some better than others) and even if you dont learn them, this cd makes a good listening cd if you want a break from the impossibly good guitarists who sometimes sacrifice feeling for technique.
