Henri Vieuxtemps, born in Verviers on the 17th of February 1820, was a violin student under Charles Auguste de Bériot’, who took him with him to Paris after he finished his training where he gave his first concerts in 1830. After completing his studies under S. Schuster (1833) and A. Reicha in Paris (1835), Vieuxtemps became principal of the French violinists school. From 1871, he taught at the Brussels Conservatory until he had to give up his career because of lameness on the left side of his body. He lived withdrawn in Paris until his death on the 6th of June 1881.

This book/DVD set includes a DVD with a recording of a lesson in the White Hall in the Sheremetev Palace in St. Petersburg, and a piano and violin arrangement prepared by Zakhar Bron based on the appropriate technical level for the violin.
