Based on poetry by Anna Barbauld, Walker has crafted a larger festival anthem for both children and adult singers. Beginning quietly with"the Lord of life and light awakes he kindling ray...," the introduction gives way to a bright statement of "This is the day the Lord hath made" from the children, thus leading to a choral crescendo of fanfares that concludes with a hymn of loud hosannas.
