  • October 20, 2012 Good book, waste of a CD

The sheetmusic for Wicked is wonderful to have. Sure, some of the arrangements might need to be re-arranged by the player when they vary too much from the familiar Braodway versions, but the foundation is strong and enjoyable. However, the "play-along" CD is a waste. The use of...

the xylophone for the voice of the songs was completely inappropriate for the music. Either pick and instrument that compliments the music better, or, better still, give the songs in the instrument of the book--in this case, the flute. It would have been a much more supportive use of the technology.

The music is very close to the actual play (Defying Gravity could be higher). The cd was not very good. It did not have choices of having the music with the melody or not.Plus the melody part was much louder than everything else.Other than that it is very...

good and I will continue to play it. Editor's Note: The CD instructions specify that the Melody Cue appears on the right-channel only. If you have a CD Player with a balance adjustment, you can adjust the volume of the melody by turning down the right channel. The website has been updated with this information.

If you're familiar with the song of Wicked, some songs may come off a little wrong, and the play-along CD requires working with the balance channels to remove the cue, but most of most of the songs is relatively unchanged.

I absolutely adore and worship the musical Wicked so this may be slightly biased but I think this is another amazing arangement of pieces from Hal Leonard. I am a grade 3 flautist and I found a challenge in 'Popular' with the tricky fingering at speed and found fun, reasonably...

easy pieces in the others. Good for grades 1-3 or fun for higher grades. Accurate CD backing. A couple of phrases or sections missed out in songs but they can easily be worked out.[...]
