The musical is a highly overlooked Lloyd Webber gem! I bought the cast recording on a whim, and positively fell inlove with it. Naturally being an avid piano player I had to have the music book. I was disappointed in some ways and delighted in others. There is a severe...

lack of melody in all the pieces and I don't even bother playing "No Matter What" the arrangement is ridiculous. "The Vaults of Heaven" "If Only" "A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste" and the title song are acceptable, but since this musical is so little known I think they didn't work very hard on the music book, it deperately needs an update. Regardless, this book is the only "Whistle Down the Wind" sheet music out there, and it's hauntingly beautiful and very enjoyable for a fan.

First of all, I do not understand what you are looking for in the No.2 question. I was disappointed that while the libretto was very helpful, there was to synopsis of the plot included with the cd I purchased. The music, especially the title song, has been with me...

since I heard it. I felt no weaknesses whatsoever in the cast choices. It is difficult to listen to music out of context and not really know what is going on with the plot, while I do have the gist of the story, I have requested unsuccessfully a copy of the book, and am trying to locate a copy of the movie. All in all this recording is fine listening, especially when the libretto is used the second time around. It is about time we have a "new" show to embrace.
