This song is written in a very high key. It doen't sound much like the artist when they are singing it.

  • November 04, 2007 Major/Minor Points to Make

I preface with this: I do not own this sheet music nor do I play piano. I have played guitar for 5 years, and I will give you a guitarist's perpesctive on this piece. First, the key is F MINOR! not Db Major. They both have 4 flats but...

see my 2 reasons. One: look at the chords numbers for the intro lick for each key. Fm: 4565431 Db: 6717653 The lick ends on the 1 because it brings in the rest of the instruments. It makes more sense to start a song with the 1 instead of the 3, but it could be, so you decide. Reason 2: This song is played on the guitar with a capo on the 1st fret. The natural choices of keys for this are F keys because two of the strings become F. Last point: Based on the guitar transcriptions I've seen (and I've seen a lot), the transcription is not set in stone. Don't be afraid to change a few things here and there if it sounds better. You can always change it back. BTW, this is an amazing song that is worth your time, no matter how much it takes. Rascal Flatts rocks!
