Couple of tricky licks to work out, but overall a nice piece. Good Americana type programming.

A very nice fanfare for a brass quintet. The tuba part is rediculously hard compared with the other four parts. All parts are extremely rhythm heavy with upbeats and "and counts" popping up everywhere. Tuba part is in the high range (highest note is D above middle C) and 1st...

Trumpet also enters the higher register. 2nd Trumpet and tuba have a lot of jumping notes and rhythm. Once timing is established, this piece will sound very nice and the melody is hard to get rid of.

  • November 04, 2008 4-5 minutes of Ewazen is a good thing

The Western Fanfare is just a taste of Ewazen's style. This piece is short enough to fit into any program, and makes a Brass Quintet sound exquisite. The price makes Western Fanfare the best investment I have ever made in sheet music.

  • March 10, 2008 Typical Ewazen

This is your typical Ewazen chart. it has its driving western moments and switches to lyrical at times. It's a nice and short little diddy. I give it four because it sounds like every other Ewazen piece.

  • August 29, 2007 Good concert starter!

Eric's music is fantastic. My quintet has used this piece to open a few concerts - you can never have enough fanfares. The themes will be in your head for days. Very obtainable for most high school players as well.
