  • August 24, 2009 Almost the "real" music

Simon Couzins "transcription" of the processional is not bad; however, if you listen to the organ introduction from the movie soundtrack, you will notice a distinct difference between the track and Couzins intro--at least for the first seven/eight bars. Couzins' arrangement is his own and NOT from the...

original organ score heard in the movie. However, subsequent to this "ad-lib" section, the rest of the processional is similar to what one expects to hear from Richard Rogers' masterful processional.

I ordered this for our church organist to play at our wedding so I'm not sure how difficult it is to play. It sounded beautiful!

As an organist I've been asked to play this piece from time to time. The early version of it was a mish-mash arrangement that I had to rework and tack on a facsimile of the opener which was improvised for the movie. This is a decent transcription of...

the original and falls under the fingers very easily. It does call for an organ of some resources to achieve the effect.

    Difficulty Level:
  • April 07, 2008 A faithful copy of the movie's music

Note for note, this is almost exactly what is heard in the Sound of Music as Maria walks down the aisle. It has one awkward page turn, has only four pages of music (plus front and back covers), and has what appears to be a DS al coda that doesn...

't actually go anywhere... it left me a bit confused. Still, wonderful addition to anyone's movie or wedding music collection.

  • February 28, 2008 Nice introduction to the wedding version of Maria

This is actually the organ introduction of the wedding scene version of "Maria" that was missing in the music book of vocal selections from "The Sound of Music". very interesting to have this part at last. It sounds great on the piano and on the organ.
