Lovely to have quality music when either second violin or viola is absent from quartet. Well arranged popular pieces and comfortable to sight-read. Another plus for Latham!

Wonderful collection of most used quartets only for trio. The arrangements have a full and complete sound, don't even miss the 4th instrument!

  • January 20, 2009 Great solution for wedding trio music...

We are a string quartet but needed some trio pieces that would be versatile enough to use whether we are missing the violin 1, violin 2 or viola player (i.e. that we can play with either 2 violins and a cello; or violin, viola and cello), and we didn...

't have a lot of time to learn the music, but had a wedding gig coming up. These are wonderful arrangements, fairly easy to learn and put together (especially if you already know the songs as a string quartet), and they sound "full", even with 1 voice missing. We highly recommend this for string trios, or for quartets looking for literature that will give them some flexibility in performing wedding gigs with 1 quartet member missing (of the top 3 voices).

  • December 17, 2008 Great Trios for Weddings

Our string quartet was looking for trio pieces to give us flexibility when 1 of us (other than the cellist) is unable to perform at a wedding. With the optional violin 2 part, we can now play without our 1st violinist (bumping our 2nd violinist up to 1st), the 2nd...

violinist or the violist. The exciting part is that these arrangements "fall under the fingers" easily and sound GREAT. Yes, there's a sort of "empty" feel when being used to a string quartet, but they're great arrangements and we wish we'd have just jumped in and spent the money for these arrangements sooner.

This book is fine to sight read for weddings. Being used to the quartet editions, this one seems a little "empty", but it has everything one needs to play a wedding job.
