    Ashburn, Virginia
    Difficulty Level:
  • December 19, 2007 Simply divine a cappella piece- angelic!

Having sung this years ago as a choir member of the Mormon Choir of Washington, it always left me with a feeling of sheer awe, instantly becoming one of my favorite pieces, reminiscient of madrigals of old. I have just had a chance to conduct our local choir in this...

piece for our Christmas concert and it was a true show stopper, as if the heavens open and angels sang. It stood out as our only a cappella piece; shows off the skill of a good choir (even an average choir can be made to sound fantastic if done with good technique); extremely well written, albeit, short; a true choir person's choir piece; excellent harmonization; beautiful moving parts; great range of dynamics(you can hear the rafters reverberate on the climax- intense; choir can learn it in a short amount of time, then concentrate on polishing nuances; can be sung through twice, or one time through on "ooh" then again with lyrics; would highly recommend it!
