  • December 28, 2003 Great for a Vocal Student

This collection of music is beautiful, compelling, and quite difficult to sing well. This makes is ideal for a serious vocal student. To be sung well, the songs need talent, technique, and emotion, and this is what makes them so wonderful to perform and to hear. I would encourage any...

serious soprano to buy a copy of this book.

  • November 12, 2002 A great wealth of literature

This book is wonderful, not only for the die-hard Broadway fan, but for the female voice student who would like to add some quality contemporary music to her repertoire. The songs are challenging, quality pieces of music in a variety of styles, with lots of emotion and dramatic subtext...

, not to mention sometimes catchy, sometimes beautiful melodies. I also highly recommend the CD on which this book is based---awesome, awesome, awesome!

  • July 02, 2002 A goldmine

This book is is a goldmine for anyone who wants sheet-music of musical theatre songs that aren't mainstream. I belive it's one of very few songbooks in print that contain songs by the extraordinary Adam Guettel. Highly recommended.

  • April 03, 2002 great book

it's great that the book has (in most cases) the original versions of selections from audra mcdonald's fantastic debut album. some of the songs may be a bit difficult for the average pianist, but some are quite playable.

  • February 22, 2002 Audra McDonald book

I am probably one of the biggest Audra Mcdonald fans in the world. Whild Audra has an amazing voice, these songs are, well....not. The songs have strange lyrics and even stranger melodies. While songs like "stars and the moon", "you don't know this man", and "way back to...

paridise" are great, songs such as "Tom", "A tragic Story" and many others are very strange. I was disappointed to find that the songs were not as wonderful as Audra's voice.
