ISBN 978-1-56224-200-8.

Here is a great way to expand your blues playing in every key! Slow tempos for all levels of ability. Try playing some of the tougher keys without looking at the music and see just how fast your ear takes over. You'll find yourself gaining confidence very quickly and that will greatly improve your soloing. Charlie Parker learned the Blues in all 12 keys before he learned anything else. Transposed for all instruments. Each key contains a different blues melody and two compatible chord/scale progressions.

  • July 16, 2008 Great Beginnings for Blues Players

I was advised by my sax teacher to get this book and have been very happy with the format, the track recordings, and explanations contained therein. My only complaint, which is the same with all the play-along books, is that they should include a recording of the header, especially...

for beginners and folks who are "rhythm-challenged" like me.

Good to learn blues with. Some of the theory in the front section I think is advanced. Downside is that the band on the CD, as expected, has no feel or emotion to their playing. But a good product.

On a scale of 1-10 i give this a 10. It teaches improvisation and scale practice, wich is great for jazz musicians or any musician trying to learn jazz or blues. I would say so far that Abersold is one of my favorit music book wrighters.

Help tremendously in recognizing chord changes and the flexibility for improvising each chord. A great experience. Would like to hear the actual melody as site reading not the best for me.
