After seeing Emil Gilels perform this selection on You Tube, I HAD to have it! I have coached sopranos in the vocal setting but was unaware that it was available as a piano solo. I was delighted that Sheet Music Plus had the selection for purchase. It arrived in a...

very secure package, no creases or bent corners as is so often the case. I would NOT hesitate to recommend Sheet Music Plus to my students and friends. I was very pleased with out transaction.

I saw pianist Emil Gilels perform this selction on You Tube recently and had to have it. I have used the song with some of my vocal students but was not aware of the piano solo. The music was packaged well and arrived in fine condition. I was very pleased...

  • August 07, 2012 Not outstanding, but very good

The music itself is well-notated and easy to read, but the quality of the score isn't perfect. It is printed on relatively cheap paper (similar in character to newspaper, but not nearly as thin). The cover is made of a harder, laminated paper that seems to be of...

good quality. Despite any downsides in quality, I see no reason why the score won't hold up as long as you take reasonably good care of it. The music itself is beautiful, of course. The Richardson transcription, I believe, is the best available, and, if I may be so bold, very similar in character to what I believe Rachmaninoff himself would have done had he transcribed the piece for solo piano. Although the quality could be a bit better, I think this is the best edition available, and it's a wonderful piece. Do not hesitate to buy it!

This is the best available piano solo version of the Vocalise. Not easy. Performed wonderfully by Emil Gilels.

  • January 14, 2008 Beautiful and challenging

Not a "showy" or "athletic" Rachmaninoff piece, so it must be on the easier side, right? NOT! This is a gorgeous treatment to the famous Rachmaninoff composition. It is very sincere, and it is a challenge for any pianist to get all the separate voices to meld together in a...

musical way. Perhaps not a project for piano show-offs, but more for a pianist that wants to create something beautiful without the normal Rachmaninoff "flash" becoming a distraction.
