Orchestra - Grade 2.5
Viola Section Feature. Composed by Richard Meyer. String Orchestra. String Orchestra. Latin. Conductor Score & Parts. 144 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.20794).

Item Number: AP.20794

Spotlight your viola section with this Spanish-flavored feature. The minor-keyed opening contains all the bravura of an exciting bullfight and is followed by a section that slows down briefly for a dramatic recitative-like transition, leading to a playful dance section in G Major. The rhythmic challenges of the accompaniment will keep all sections of the string orchestra interested. A Viola II part (second violin in alto clef) is included for those violists not yet ready to solo. Violin, cello, and bass parts are in first position throughout, while the solo part contains brief excursions into third position. Latin percussion parts are added for texture. Very playable!

  • March 03, 2008 AWESOME Orchestra Piece!!!!!

I love the way this piece flows with the rythmic viola solo. I am personally a Violin 1 for this piece at school, and every one in class is really getting a good kick out of it. We all love it!!!!!!!!!!:) We're all a bunch of kids, so it...

should be fun once everyone hears up at our spring concert! The Mexican and Spanish tune should get an audience singing and humming the song in their head 4 days, like me!:)

this piece has a variaty of sounds and melodies, all in spanish/mexican tune. The pice has strong and loud parts which give the listener the picture of a bull fight. It is an amazing piece of music that ties a little bit of culture and music into one beautiful...

    song.

  • May 15, 2006 GREAT

The violas sound absoulutly GREAT in "Viva Violas!". The cello's part is very neat in the middle of the piece! I'm a violinist, but for this piece, I wish I played the viola because they had a great melody! -Molly (6th grader)

  • March 17, 2006 Great for ensemble building!

This piece has strengthened my viola section more than I could have dreamed of and also been wonderful for teaching the violins the true art of accompaniment. The rest of this 7th grade orchestra just loves the song also. It is our top request from players.
