  • February 14, 2009 No Harpsichord Part with this Edition

Read the description of this edition carefully. It is described as "with Harpsichord" but, in fact, has no harpsichord sheet music. Only a synthesized accompaniment CD is provided and, therefore, this edition is not useable for ensemble performance.

  • August 23, 2008 A truly enjoyable way to prepare a piece

I have used Music Minus One (MMO) before when learning operatic arias. Both the flautist and harpsichordist on this recording are outstanding and give a wonderful interpretation which thankfully does not have too much ornamentation and allows the student to find their own way in creating an individual interpretation which...

is essential for creating an interesting baroque performance. I am really enjoying using these backing tracks to prepare a sonata for an Associate level examination and it has really developed my playing and has saved me the considerable expense of having to pay for an accompanist at the early stages of preparation. I only hope when I need help preparing other pieces for my next level of examinations, MMO has the recording available.

  • June 04, 2008 Challenging sonatas well suited for alto recorder

I'm enjoying working on and playing these very melodious sonatas. On the CD, the works are performed on a transverse flute, but they are well suited to alto recorder. The pieces range in difficulty from medium-easy to medium-difficult, so I could start playing with the recording right...

away while working on the more difficult movements to be played at a later time.

This title, and the four Sonatas it contains, are a very good choice: one can get into the feeling of this important Baroque composer, Veracini. He was a recorder player, and his music is therefore particularly suitable to this instrument. Good teaching tool. I also liked the harpsichord basso continuo...

: the various parts have been made at reasonable speeds, so that there aren't great difficulties in performing them.
