Twelve Canzonas - Score composed by Banchieri/Bonelli. For SATB recorders. Recorder Quartets. Venetian Instrumental Music. Score. Published by London Pro Musica (MM.LPMVM15).

The two musicians represented in this volume were both closely associated with the musical life of Bologna around the turn of the seventeenth century. Adriano Banchieri (1567-1634) was by far the better-known of the two: he was a prolific composer who produced a large amount of music in all the main forms of his age. Aurelio Bonelli is a more obscure figure about whom practically nothing is known. According to the title-page of his canzonas he was a native of Bologna. When Banchieri went off to Imola in 1601 it was Bonelli who got his job.
