  • October 05, 2003 Beautiful...

This is definitely one of Rachmaninoff's best works (they are all great!)but it is somewhat difficult. The beginning of the first movement chills my bones with its sinister tone, the kind that only Rachmaninoff could create. This edition by Kalmus is very readable with seperate parts for violin...

    and violoncello.

  • September 05, 2003 Wonderful

The trio is Rachmaninoff's best work! It is absolutely astonishing! I am now waiting for the scores to be sent to me, and I will play it at my concert. Wonderful!

  • September 01, 2003 THIS IS SO COOL!

This Trio is so awesome! I just picked up the arrangement for piano and orchestra at the library and it is very very hard! but it sounds excellent and it probably is worth the work!

  • April 19, 2002 Rach's 5th Concerto!

If you've haven't heard the Chandos recording of this trio arranged as a concerto - lucky you! It finds its true format - and is it a wow! If you love Rachmaninov - you have to have this. The piano part is gorgeous - if you can play it. Even if you...

can't play it all, there is enough to satisfy a reasonable amateur.
