They (Publishers) should get Bakerman and Tabs to do this book over so it can be worthy of the band. (They did the 8VM and Systematic Chaos' books amazingly well, even checked over by the man himself, JP.) If you ever see this in a music store, simply just look...

at the guitar solo for As I Am, the first solo in This Dying Soul (the tapping isn't there wtf) and, the biggest fail in the history of failures, the whole tab for Honor Thy Father...They transcribed the main riff AN OCTAVE UP! Just NO! I agree with the others who say you're better off with learning by ear or tabs on powertabs.net, which, I might add, have some of Bakerman's very own transcriptions of these insanely inspiring songs. AVOID THIS BOOK.

Excellent music! Good transcription! There is only one passage that i think each person will find a better fingering. But that is part of the job.

  • April 19, 2007 Do not purchase this, PERIOD.

As the first reviewer noted, do NOT buy this book. The transcriptions are just plain WRONG. If you can actually keep up with this band, you should be learning these songs by watching the Live at Budokan DVD instead of this worthless book. I don't know how this was...

able to hit the presses, because all other DT books have been way, way better.

Train Of Thought is definately a new direction for Dream Theater but is certainly not a bad one. As far as the transcriptions are concerned, there are many 'clumsy' errors by transcriber Danny Begelman. I haven't come across this guy before, but there are numerous transcribing mistakes throughout the...

book. If you love the album and want to learn the material, then buy the product, but be prepared to work out many of Petrucci's guitar parts for yourself.... you have been warned!!

I'm really astonished with some negative opinions about this album. Obviously there are important changes respect previous works, but I think it's a clear sing of a group's developent and matureness. The philosophical lyrics are splendids and the musical work is great, able to lead the listener...

throughout different frames of mind. As more as you hear, clearer the quality of this album is make evident.
