This setting of the responsorial psalm for Christmas Midnight Mass aptly conveys the exultation of Psalm 96. A gentle assembly refrain gives way to more rhythmic and colorful verses: two cantor verses (for high voice) with harp accompaniment, and two a cappella choral verses. Organ always accompanies the refrain, and may substitute for harp on the cantor verses. ICEL refrain, New American Bible verses.
