This is a great piece, and an appropriately great score. The first time I read through this score, it was a monstrous 20"+ beast. With that sort of size condensed, this particular version is considerably smaller and a bit harder to read, so don't even think about conducting from...

this! Otherwise, I highly recommend this score to any composer, arranger, or performer who is interested in string technique and modern notation.

Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima is a unique piece of music. And likewise, so is the score. I have been facinated by this music ever since I heard it a couple years back, and I purchased this score to study techniques used by the composer. However, this score is...

very distinct. Do not expect your standard looking music notation here. In fact, get ready to read music in a whole new light after looking at this score. The score begins with a glossary of new musical symbols, and rarely are the players called upon to produce definate pitches. I would recommend this to anyone who is seriously interested in studying the music. But those with an idle fascination need not apply.
