Bits of Scotland the Brave, the unofficial national anthem of Scotland, are heard in the opening section of This Proud People. The music then simulates a traditional Scottish pipe and drum band. A happy dance melody soon follows before the movement reclaims its nationalistic style of introduction. The South of Skye conjures a place of countless quiet sandy beaches with beautiful views, tiny villages, and small islands famous for its sheep. In stark contrast to its wild and rugged upper regions, the South of Skye is also known as the Garden of Skye. Slow and tranquil in nature, the music exudes feelings of calm and inner peace. Trendy and contemporary, Glasgow's west end is a never-ending flurry of culture, education, and entertainment. It is known worldwide for its impressive Victorian architecture, as being a home to celebrities, and for its myriad of restaurants, shops, and pubs. Glasgow, the West End is a wild and fiery Scottish jig - an exciting musical roller coaster that begins aggressively and builds to a furious end.

About FJH Concert Band

Designed for high school groups and upper-level middle school groups. Independence is encouraged, but many lines are cross-cued. Usually includes an expanded percussion section. Grades 3 - 3.5
