    Difficulty Level:
  • October 29, 2011 A Different Style

These three pieces composed by Aaron Minsky, and arranged for viola by David Dalton, are a unique style. They have nice rhythms and nice harmonies that make the listener want to start snapping his/her fingers and/or dancing. There are lots of double stops and arpeggios that add to...

the rich harmonic flavor. The 3rd one called "The Flag Waver" is my favorite. I recently gave this to a viola student whose parents were forcing him to take an instrument and he was rather reluctant to practice, but this piece got him going. He put his soul into this one without a doubt, and now he is starting to have fun when he plays. I just wish there were more than 3 of these pieces. What will I give him after these?
