Concert band - Grade 4
Composed by Steven Reineke. Command Series. Audio recording available separately (items CL.WFR334 & CL.WFR352). Score and set of parts. Composed 2005. Duration 10 minutes, 22 seconds. Published by C.L. Barnhouse (CL.012-3391-00).

Item Number: CL.012-3391-00

A programmatic ten-minute tone poem for symphonic band in one movement that is constructed in five distinct sections to tell the story of the lives of Helena and Sibylla, twin sisters born in Germany in 1588. Starting out with a Gregorian chant-type motif, Reineke uses all manner of musical sorcery to represent the turbulent lives of these vastly misunderstood women. A major work which is sure to become a favorite of audiences and performers alike! Very impressive!

This is an incredible piece. We played it at my districts festival last week and i absolutely love it. Every time we played it I got chills. I was on the first trumpet part and if the players can handle it, it sounds so intense and beautiful at the same...

time. Bottom line, an incredible piece of music.

Excellent storyline I really like this piece. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the beginning it stays slow to long for my taste. Otherwise this is an excellent piece great for any/ all concert bands

  • June 16, 2007 Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw a high school band play this in Virginia. It's like 12 minutes long, but it is one of the most amazing pieces I have ever heard. This piece is for high school bands, but a talented middle school could play this
