  • August 16, 2003 Great Book

This a great book for the intermediate guitarist with some pretty challenging solos and this book has the solos(some books dont have them). Good transicriptions and the cd is wonderfully played both slow and faced. I was like the other reviewer annoyed at the song selection as well. i...

later got the chance to ask the author of the book(troy stetina) what the deal was and why he selected the songs he did. It apparently is because ozzy's management(sharon osbourne) would not let him write any other songs and picked the songs he was going to do. So it aint his fault, but nevertheless it does detract from the overall value of the book. Basically whats there is great but its just somehow feels incomplete with songs like mr crowley and shots in the dark not included while killer of giants and iron man off the tribute album was. Troy is also excellant at explaining the theory behind what randy, jake, and zakk are playing if you are interested in that stuff.

  • December 06, 2002 Great Book but has a few Misses

This is a great book, Troy Stetina is a great teacher and I am pleased to see he transcribed some Ozzy. The only gripe I have with this book are the lack of some of my favorite Ozzy songs, Mr Crowley, Revelation and Diary Of A Madman. I couldve done...

without the Sabbath songs because they are everywhere, this is an Ozzy book not sabbath so I think they shouldve filled it with more Ozz. I still cant believe they left out Mr. Crowley though.
