I was looking for some traditional arrangements of gospel music, but not necessarily really well-known hymns, hence I was drawn to this book which contained unfamiliar titles. The cover had "traditional" stamped all over it. Turns out, these are completely unfamiliar tunes (with a few familiar songs, jazzed-up...

). They are definitely into the "Black spiritual" genre, not the southern gospel genre. Very difficult accompanying parts, due to keys, like seven flats, and loads of syncopation. I would probably never try to learn these from the notes - perhaps from listening to someone else sing them, but not from the notes. I'd advise "you-tubing" some of the titles before buying. I was disappointed and will probably shelve this book, as I haven't found a single piece that will suit my purposes.
