The Sun Still Sets on the Mississippi River is a late intermediate level piano solo. The lazy style paints a musical picture of America's mighty river gently rolling along. But when you get to the key change, look out! That mighty river has an exciting rush toward the end, which calms back to that lazy style for the ending. This piece will bring back memories of simpler times, with music reminiscent of the early 1900's. Written in the key of F Major, this piece contains rich jazz chords, echos in the treble, a bridge that changes to 6/8, and a key change to Bb that uses octaves in the R.H. melody. Great piece for recitals, or Assisted Living performances. Copyright 2012 Amy J. Snyder.
