  • February 18, 2013 The best available

As an experienced piano professor and teacher of serious students, this is my usual beginner text. There are other books of similar quality--but not available in the U.S. The literature (yes, literature) in this book is of great musical value, and both hands work equally. No dumbing down...

: hands move all over the keyboard, fingerings are sophisticated. After this book, students are ready to move into AMBach's Notebook and little Schumann, Tchaikovsky pieces, and sonatinas.

This book was recommended by my daughter's piano teacher as a preliminary text book. We like it very much. I would highly recommend these series for everyone who has started playing piano.

  • May 03, 2007 Pretty nice book

If you are quiet familiar with the very basics of music, and want to understand and play a nice piece -- this is the book you need. I don't think it is a "learn it yourself" kind of book, but a good book to work with your music instructor
