The Princess and the Pea - Performance Pack (A Traditional Tale Told Anew). Composed by Andy Beck and Brian Fisher. This edition: Performance Pack (Director's Score & 10 Singer's Editions). Children's Musicals and Programs. Choral. Elementary. Director's Score & 10 Singer's Editions. 68 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.23432).

Eager-to-wed Prince Nicholas narrates the story of a classic fairy tale kingdom anxious for his royal nuptials. But there's a problem ... overbearing Queen Minerva insists upon testing any girl who wants to marry her son, and not one is able to gain her approval. King Reginald loses his patience, the trusty Court Jester searches for the right bride, and an even-tempered chamber maid comforts her childhood friend, the Prince. Will Princess Cecily be up to the challenge? Or Griselda? Perhaps Princess Jillian can pass the big test. You won't believe the shocking ending to this tangled tale. An irresistible, traditional-sounding score and a witty script bring the satisfying story to life. Be sure to say "I do" to this traditional tale told anew. Recommended for grades 4 and up.

Performance Pack contains: Director's Score (AP.23429), 10 Singer's Editions (2 x AP.23430). See individual items for detailed descriptions.

A few years back when I was in the seventh grade, we did this as our spring musical. I was Queen Minerva. Let me just say that the plot was funny and at the same time it was still the story of The Princess and the Pea.

  • January 21, 2006 Refreshing remake of a classic

Catchy tunes, great balance beween chorus and solo parts. Easy piano arrangement, lot's of room for improvisation (should you wish). Excellent vocal range for fifth grade chorus / soloists. Very nice harmonies for all singers. With over twenty years of concerts, I highly recommend adding this production to your rotation...
