The Power of the Cross

By Keith Getty

SATB choir, piano (with optional orchestration)
Composed by Keith Getty. Arranged by Stuart Townend. Sacred Anthem, Christ the King, Eastertide, General, Lent, Palm/Palm-Passion Sunday. Octavo. Lorenz Publishing Company #10/3805L. Published by Lorenz Publishing Company (LO.10-3805L).

Item Number: LO.10-3805L

Keith Getty's magnificent Lenten hymn, "In Christ Alone," has won the hearts of believers everywhere. Now, from that same pen comes a new hymn that eclipses its precursor as a transcendent witness to the power of the cross. Subtle vocal counterpoint illumines the prosaic verses, and Mark Hayes's signature harmonic touches color the settings with shifting shades of darkness and light, rising to a powerful close: "What a love, what a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.".

I haven't heard this arrangement yet, but have played this hymn many times from our hymnal. I love it and am anxious to get this for our choir. Our choir director is ordering it as I write this. If you haven't heard it, take my word for it...
