The binding makes the book almost useless. I'm tediously cutting apart the pages to leave max L.H. margins so I can put it into a loose leaf notebook. You need to tell Alfed that a spiral binding is needed, and I'm sure serious players would pay up...

    for the extra usability.

  • April 30, 2010 Great works, but very bad edition

The Rachmaninoff's Preudes are very beautiful and the most (not all) are really difficult - this sentence is almost unnecessary. But this edition is very disappointing. The pages often turn themselves and the book falls on the keyboard. Il is very difficult to manage to stay it in place. The...

quatily of printing is low (there are black stains and the scores are not very clear). Sometimes, it is a little packed (for example, in the prelude op. 3 n°2, at the bottom of the first page, some chords are really packed). There is no fingering and no preface (or postface). If you want to play these preludes in good conditions, don't get this score !

  • October 03, 2007 Waste of money - Binding unacceptable

I have used a Kalmus edition of the Op. 32 preludes for over 30 years and not a single page has fallen out. I had this edition for a week and after struggling to get it to lay open on the piano (yes, carefully breaking the binding from the center...

out as one does with any book) the pages are already falling out. What a waste of money!

different binding would be better for this size - perhaps spiral binding so the pages stay flat. I finally took it to a printer and had it sprial bound.
