The Oratorio Anthology - Baritone/Bass (The Vocal Library Baritone/Bass). Edited by Richard Walters. For Piano, Vocal (Baritone/Bass). The Vocal Library. Baroque and Classical Period. Difficulty: medium-difficult to difficult. Collection. Vocal melody, lyrics, translations, piano accompaniment and introductory text. 269 pages. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.747061).

ISBN 079352508X. With vocal melody, lyrics, translations, piano accompaniment and introductory text. Baroque and Classical Period. 8.5x11 inches.

This is the most serious and useful collection yet published of solo arias from oratorios, masses and cantatas. The literature is confined to work by major composers, and by-passes the dated oratorio literature found in previous collections. The most famous music is here, and so is interesting and less famous music by masters. There are new music engravings for each aria, and extensive historical notes and translations. Solo instrumental obbligato parts, which can be cut from the book, are included on appropriate selections.

  • October 22, 2011 a must for ALL baritone/bass singers

For the serious solo bass/baritone singer, this needs to be a book in their repertoire. This book has the finest selections of oratorios I have ever found, and it provides text translations in the front of the book. You will find most of the standard oratorio selections here, which...

is why this is a must-have for those pursuing a career as a solo bass/baritone singer.

This is a great buy and should be used in studios everywhere. The best of the best can be found within the pages of this book. Great idea for the emerging artist!
