  • May 02, 2012 Not just for the Olympics!

I bought this piece as one of my trumpeters requested it; I hadn't really heard it before, but as we have started to rehearse it, it made me feel that it could be for any occasion, not just sporting/Olympic competitions. John Williams's music always conjures up majestic...

images, none more so in this piece - it's a bit repetitive, but the arrangement is absolutely rock solid and all groups should enjoy its challenges. The audience will love it, too, and although not as instantly recognisable as his 'Olympic Fanfare and Theme', this is a great addition to the repertoire, in either concert or outdoor performance.
