    Difficulty Level:
  • July 17, 2007 Good Basal Sonatina Resource

This book is a good way to get a large collection of favorite sonatinas all in one volume. The difficulty ranges from early to late intermediate. Mixed in with the standard choices are some compositions I was not familiar with. In this book, all of the movements to each sonatina...

are included. All of these compositions are in their original form, with modest editing. There is enough material to last a good two years for an average pupil. I would recommend that a teacher compare this book with some of the Alfred publications. The Alfred books sometimes reflect more current research than this book, and hence, more stylistically "correct" editing. Many teachers will still opt for this book simply for the wealth of good selections it contains.
