  • December 21, 2007 A 'Go To' Book

I loved playing from this book as a child and now my children are enjoying playing from it too. I keep going back to it also. Many recognisable and popular peices with varying degrees of difficulty.

  • July 17, 2007 Not Typical of the Agay Books

I ordered a number of Agay books to have in my collection. I was much more pleased with my other choices than with this book. Be aware, before you order this one, that these are simplifications and arrangements, NOT original piano pieces. The book reminds me of the old Eckstein...

"Let Us Have Music for Piano" collections. That said, the arrangements are tastefully done. They expose the pupil to many of the standard works that many students long to perform. The collection includes a section devoted to song material as well. Most teachers prefer to use original pieces composed for piano. Agay's "Joy of First Classics" (two volumes) and "Joy of Classics" would make a better choice for that type of material. I would recommend those rather than this book.
