I bought this primarily for two tracks. "PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS," and "THE PLANET OF NEW ORLEANS," both of which are classic examples of Knopfler's unique technique and tone. I wasn't disappointed. The format is well laid-out,and easy to follow for anyone who depends on TAB, but is...

at a fairly advanced stage of following it. The only thing it can't reproduce is the feel that it is so necessary to evoke that true Knopfler sound. That's left up to the player! Perhaps my only gripe is the exclusion of "GOING HOME." It would have completed the package. Accompanying CD is very useful.

My only complaints about this one would be (a) it doesn't include all the juicy licks from Sultans of Swing, and (b) there is hardly any substantive discussion of Knopfler's right-hand technique, which is crucial to truly nailing his sound. Other than that, though, this is a...

very well done book--flawless, easy-to-understand tab with slowed-down examples...plus some cheesy introduction monologues!
