I think that this book could have been a lot better. It lacks certain masterpices of Chopin, such as Fantaisie-Impromptu, Nocturne Op.27 no.2, Barcarolle Op.60, Berceuse Op.57, Ballade no.3, Ballade no.4, Prelude no.8, and Prelude no,16. Also, there is no fingering...

in this book. However, the book does have some very memorable songs such as Ballade no.1 (My Favourite), Prelude no.24, and the Heroique Polonaise. Also, I love the painting on the front cover. Although this book is quite good, I would not get another one ike it. Instead, I would go for the G. Henle Verlag Editions, because they RULE!

This book enabled me to go back in time and play some of the compositions that I had forgotten about and some that I had wanted to play but never got the chance. The arrangements were "within reach" of my capabilities but advanced enough to create a very enjoyable performance...

. Thank you SheetMusicPlus for opening up a new world of music to me that I thought was long in the past.

    Difficulty Level:
  • May 26, 2007 Best Works

I've been playing for a long time, and I found a lot of chopins books. I think this is the one of the best books. However there are some writing errors in that book. The errors are not complicated, it's just that a not is not printed well...

and its too small. Anyways, I consiter this book to be one of the "Greatest Piano Works of Frederic Chopin."

    Difficulty Level:
  • June 28, 2006 Nice collection

I've been playing for almost 17 years, and I found this collection to be quite nice, however, I don't understand how you can call it "The Great Works of Chopin" without some of his most famous pieces, such as Fantasie Impromptu and Minute Waltz. All in all, I...

found this book to be enjoyable, but not much more. The pieces that are in here are indeed entertaining to play, but I simply don't feel it does great justice when so many great works are left out.

    Difficulty Level:
  • September 17, 2005 Strange collection

Generally good but... No Nocturne in D flat major op. 27/2?? Some of the best Mazurkas are all missing too (opp. 24/4, 30/3, 41/1 41/2, 59/1, 50/3, 59/3), and some rather less interesting ones are there in their place (eg the two...

from op. 6 and opp. 59/2 and 67/1). The Fantasy-Impromptu is also missing (as some one else commented), along with other famous masterpieces such as the Berceuse! This is a fair collection and a reasonable stating point for an amatur pianist to disacover Chopins's music, but is not necessarily "THE" Great Works...
