Great book with good arrangements for piano and voice. If you love this artist, this book is a a good starting point.

  • September 13, 2006 The best of Krall sheet music yet

I'll be forthright by saying that her other sheet music books are very disappointing. I have nothing against the standards as they were. Also, the picture of Diana Krall on the cover is appealling as well. This book has much more of a transcriptive feeling to it though, which...

I think is why someone would consider buying a book of songs from a Diana Krall CD to begin with.

An excellent “piano reduction of Krall’s CD, but not a literal transcription. And that’s good, because a transcription of Krall’s piano playing on the CD would not capture key elements of the songs that were played by other instruments. In this reduction, however, critical parts played by...

other instruments’ have been added to (i.e., “reduced into) the piano score. So a solo player can create a very effective realization of the CD performance without assistance from other players. This book is very highly recommended! I have rated it "Advanced" not because it is as difficult as Rachmaninoff, but because its sophisticated rhythms and complex chords will be a challenge for some players. But practice makes perfect, and this book will definitely reward your effort!

  • September 21, 2005 Accurate transcriptions!

In contrast to those two other diana krall books available, this one has TRANSCRIPTIONS of her pieces - they are not "standards". I took a chance and ordered it and was so happy to find that out. While her overall style is a little different on this album (some of her...

fans like it - some don't--- I like it), it's a pleasure to play through these pieces. Most of the pieces can be classified as intermediate in terms of the main melody or intro- but they have the transcriptions of her piano solos which are more challenging. Once you work those up to speed - you are definitely looking at an intermediate/advanced pianist. I have those two other piano books (diana krall) -- so for any diana krall fans hesitant to purchase these - you will not be disappointed (as i was w/ those)- these are written in the same key as on her album and are very accurate! Enjoy!
