  • January 25, 2008 Joe Pass is still the best teacher in Jazz today.

I play many different styles on my guitar, but the discipline behind all these styles is Jazz, where you will learn just about everything you need to know for harmonizing or soloing on any tune. The Best Of Joe Pass book has musical notations with TAB and a CD. You...

just add the practice and if you are skilled and motivated, you're good to go. Very accurately anotated. Plus there are references to passages in the solos and heads that explore and explain what Joe Pass is doing and where this type of line or passage originated. So, you get to learn from Joe Pass and also from the major influences on his playing style, like Charlie Christan and Django. Pass infuses these influences in his playing but modernises them and blends them into his style.
