  • April 27, 2008 the best way to learn 2nd position

2nd position is really difficult for students to grasp, but everything in this book makes learning this position easier!! I've been using it with my students for 6 years and notice very quick progress right from the start. This entire method is better than all other methods combined, especially...

as far as motivating students to keep going. I've been teaching for 30 years, so I've tried other methods and observe others that have come out recently. The pieces are superior in this book and the rest of the books in this series. Try the other books. Our recitals include pieces from all 5 ABC's of Violin books. Really great method!"

  • June 23, 2007 fantastic book!!!!!

Easier way to learn 2nd position on the violin than from another book I tried. The other book was boring and made this position seem really hard. But NOT this book - I can gladly say 2nd position is now manageable. Lots of good melodies. "Warmups" and scales are useful to...

play before each piece. Little diagrams show how to line up my fingers. All exercises and songs seem to progress naturally. NOT too fast so you don't feel overwhelmed.
